As tweeted by Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin at 8:04AM eastern
“At @realDonaldTrump’s direction, we are moving Tax Day from April 15 to July 15. All taxpayers and businesses will have this additional time to file and make payments without interest or penalties.”
Income tax payments were previously extended… and now filing tax returns (1040, 1120 and few other odd-duck ones) have been extended. We are still unclear about IRA contributions, quarterly estimated tax payments, payroll filings, etc.

What this means to you our clients and our office
We are going to keep working, as diligently as possible, until we can’t!
Thankfully – we don’t have to worry about extensions or filing deadlines for another 90 days… that doesn’t mean however that we can take our foot off the gas. We need to maintain our sense of urgency in our efforts to serve you, our clients. We would like to maintain our momentum as we are unsure of what additional restraints will be put on our ability to work in the future as the country continues to swim in these uncharted waters. Please note, we are setup to work fully remotely.
- We are continuing to schedule phone and video call meetings – please reach out to our office to do so: 508-775-0518 or (even better) frontdesk@spmandco.com
- Documents can still be dropped off to our office – a new lockable drop box is to be installed 3/21/2020 – on the back walkway / patio.
- You can securely upload your documents on our encrypted portal here without a login or (even better) if you already have a portal login, just do so and upload your docs.
- You can find our information “blasts” regarding our efforts and views on our blog.
From our “family” to yours – wishing you continued health and prosperity.
